Do we assume luxury shoes?

Published on 6/24/24

The eternal dilemma between owning a luxury pair and actually wearing them – that's what drives us, well, rarely! But the day we find ourselves in that situation, we want to know who wears them with confidence, when, and how do they do it? So, we've studied several types of people who do it very well (this site is about to become a reference in sociological studies!).

The Star

At ease on the red carpet as in everyday life, the star only wears collector's shoes and owns it. The risk would even be to wear ordinary shoes and have the misfortune of ending up in tabloids poorly shod. Fortunately, our stars do us honor, and neither Brigitte Macron nor Carla Sarkozy has ever made a misstep. I included our first ladies among the French stars – that was easy!

The Political Personality

There's a debate when we talk about political figures, as it's no longer about representation but about action. We've seen Fleur Pellerin make a statement in Louboutins. The ascent of the Elysée Palace steps certainly suits red soles, and we like to think that women are represented and, moreover, that they proudly champion femininity. However, actions must follow... but we'll agree that heel height has nothing to do with it, right?

Us - in our everyday environment.

I wonder if big, anonymous cities allow us to better embrace our total look, or just our incredible shoes. Star shoes on us in New York or London seem strangely easier to wear than on us in Paris, or in Bordeaux, or in Caen… But we're working on it, because an anonymous city is great, but if we don't live there, we'll have to make do with ourselves, our city, and our diva look. We have a few pairs on My Pretty French Shoes that allow you to start gently… or go all out!
