What a shame to find that the shoes bought at a high price or painstakingly hunted down are ultimately too loose. I'll almost look like a red carpet star whose heel slips off at the back... What a disaster! The epitome of a missed look! If the pair is unique, it's very hard to think about returning or reselling them. Especially if they've been worn a little, convinced that it "was nothing." What to do?
This solution may seem trivial, and yet! Adding a half-insole at the front will allow the foot to take up more volume in the shoe, pushing it back slightly and thus sometimes gaining the millimeters that created play in the fit. Half-insoles can be purchased commercially. The cobbler can also offer you cork, which will be hidden under your insole (the "sockliner").
In the case of a heel grip, the effect is reversed, as the extra thickness is placed behind the heel and pushes the foot to the front of the shoe. For a straight-cut shoe where you feel your foot isn't held securely, this can work. However, be careful not to push your foot too far into the toe of the shoe, which could cause discomfort. Silicone heel grips (or anti-slip grips) can be purchased commercially. Some suede versions are available at cobblers, who can stitch them in for you.
We recommend you try these two tips, or even combine them, before giving up! If they're really too big, you'll have to resign yourself to giving them to your sister, your cousin, or your best friend – but we certainly hope it doesn't come to that! You can find all these little accessories on our website, and if not, a pair in your size will do just as nicely!
